Die USA haben geplante gemeinsame Militärübungen mit Georgien vor dem Hintergrund der Spannungen mit der georgischen Regierung ausgesetzt. Die Teilnahme der US-Armee an dem eigentlich zwischen 25. Juli und 6. August angesetzten Manöver unter dem Namen »Noble Partner« werde »bis auf Weiteres ausgesetzt«, erklärte das Verteidigungsministerium in Washington am Freitag. Hintergrund seien »falsche Anschuldigungen« der Regierung in Tiflis.

Das Pentagon bezog sich auf Aussagen georgischer Politiker, Washington dränge Georgien dazu, Krieg gegen Russland zu führen und sei an zwei Putschversuchen gegen die Regierung beteiligt gewesen. Die US-Regierung habe daher entschieden, der Zeitpunkt für eine »groß angelegte Militärübung in Georgien« sei »unangemessen«. Die Beziehungen zwischen Washington und Tiflis hatten sich zuletzt erheblich eingetrübt - insbesondere, seit das georgische Parlament auf Initiative der Regierungspartei Georgischer Traum Anfang Juni trotz erheblichen äußeren Drucks aus den USA und der EU ein Gesetz gegen ausländische Einflussnahme verabschiedet hatte. Politiker aus EU-Staaten hatten sich in Tiflis an Demonstrationen und Kundgebungen gegen die Regierung beteiligt. Im Mai hatte Washington eine »umfassende Überprüfung der bilateralen Zusammenarbeit« angekündigt.

For the scene where the Doctor and Donna are reunited on either side of soundproof glass and thus have to mime their conversation, the script gave the lines Russell wanted Donna to act out, but he suggested Catherine Tate come up with the motions herself on the day of the shoot, so Catherine improvised her famous mime while filming.

Okay but Donna. DONNA. She gets to live her life with both her husband AND her platonic life partner. She'd wanted to be with him forever and now she CAN. She gets both a permanent romantic and permanent platonic partner. Who like each other. Who don't resent the other's existence. Do you understand how MONUMENTAL that is???

the doctor being a part of the noble family has the energy of an addams family cousin -- imagines rose being in a school play and the doctor fixing up some gizmo to open up a tiny gap to some part of the universe where stars shine particularly brightly for midsummer night's dream, and accidentally almost levels the school by misjudging how close they are to this one very dense planet (people in the audience confusedly waving at aliens who are just as confusedly waving their tentacles back from a thousand years in the future a million light years away. everybody afterwards talks about the great special effects, but they're not sure what it has to do with the story)

people trying to figure out who this "the doctor" person is and why he's living with the nobles, and always trying to catch out that there's something going on, but the doctor's answers to all their inquiries are so lowkey bonkers as to bamboozle any further attempts (so where are you from again? oh just this place, well, I say place, planet, well, I say planet I don't actually know these days, but somewhere certainly... is Ipswich a place? how do you know mrs noble again? we travelled together for a bit, and then, well you know how it is when you get hit with a face full of radiation, ey *snort-laughs at his own joke* and what's your name again? doctor, the "the" is a pronoun, it can get confusing I know, but people on this planet choose their names all the time, you'll catch up)

just this house gremlin in a setup that nobody from the outside understands, toddling about, showing up at every event that rose has going for her, wearing little pride pins that might be partially for himself as well as for rose (gay??? one of those trans ones????), always seems to be talking about strange places that nobody has heard of but doesn't want to admit to, occasionally goes eerily still and unnerving around people who are cruel and mean, knows a lot about history, but peppers it with facts that can't possibly be true, gets on very well with shaun who always answers questions with "the doctor's part of the family, youknow?" they do not know, but at this point it's too rude to keep asking

Hundreds of people have said it before me, but it's really so powerful Donna's first WILLING adventure with the Doctor is an insanely emotionally moving one with a very deep message that arose from her compassion (The Fires Of Pompeii)

Even if you don't know Catherine Tate is known for her wit and comedy, Donna herself is introduced as a very comical character. Her theme is comical, her actions and sass is meant to be read as comical and both Runaway Bride and Partners In Crime have a totally different narrative structure because of it. Like, both episodes having a lot of humour based around an unexpected scenario forcing both to improvise in funny and chaotic DIY ways.

When you first watch these two episodes you have no reason to believe their run together is going to be anything else! So it was such a brilliant decision to have the episode right after she joins the Doctor be one in which SHE'S pushing a moral dilemma onto the Doctor. To be all fun and games until she learns people are going to die and the Doctor plans to do nothing about it. To then also KEEP on pushing the subject DESPITE the Doctor, this alien she at this point still knows very little about, speaking about the world and time with a sense of authority like there Truly Really is nothing they could do.

The fact that the character who's introduced to us as the comic relief IMMEDIATELY turns around and tells the Doctor he's guilty of the death of a teenager and everyone around him if he refuses to help at all... That's such a powerful move.

I'd love if we got a reference to the best Doctor and Donna scene in S3 of Good Omens

But it's just Crowley and Aziraphale across the room from each other giving exaggerated eye rolls, sassy eye brow raises and all the other amazing ways they communicate non verbally.

I just really wanna watch David and Michael really flex on their top teir facial expressions. They do a little of it in S1 and S2, but I want a full out scene/argument between them.
